Photoplay……………
I have been having some fun with my art…so I call it “art on art”. There are some really wonderful things I can do with these photos. The art is uploaded onto my computer, then I use a photo program to play with the art and some of the results are just awesome….I would like more options, maybe someone can suggest a program….but hope you like the way the photos turn out. http://www.alicevrichards.wordpress.com/

USS Arizona……………..
I took this photo at the Arizona Memorial….it was a very beautiful day. This flag is set over the USS Arizona…where those young and brave men were sealed in the ship, unable to get out…….an emotional day for me. My life in Hawaii has such a lasting memory in my mind that my husband calls me “Hawaiian at heart”. What a nice thing to have said to me by a Hawaiian. Josse Ford……………..
Josse Ford grew up in New Zealand. After she had lived in Australia, she then moved to the United States. Splitting her time between New York, Minniapolis and New Zealand, she still creates her beautiful work in pastels, as well as other mediums. In 2005, her work was featured at the Biennale in Florence, Italy. I really enjoy looking at Josse Fords’ work…..it is so full of light. I hope you will take a look at her beautiful work. She says: “I love nature………………..” and I can see this love in the beautiful colors and hues she uses so liberally.

Tropical beauty…………….
When we were living in Waianae (Hawaii), I had such a wonderful time taking pictures because of the beautiful lighting. I hardly used a flash. It is awesome how the camera just did it all itself. Of course the lens did a great deal of the work also (and of course, my great love for beauty). Beautiful black and white………….
There is something wonderful about black and white photos…….they are so telling….somehow they bring out something genuine in people, or just about anything. Somehow the beauty comes out. I just put up some of my own black and white photos of kittens. I used a telephoto lens on these, and it brought out what I was looking for. I feel so privileged to have gotten to know artists from the Internet. One of my good friends is Con from Cons Myspace. I’ve viewed his portraits, and the detail in the skin and hair, the shadows and shades are awesome! He has such an eye for detail. It’s like looking at a photograph. His work is truly exceptional. Ilya Schar, a brilliant artist…
One of my favorite artists is Ilya Schar. He is truly brilliant! Every one of his works looks like he had painted with a brush…but his great works are actually made with semi-precious stones! Art in progress…
I’m working on a re-painting of the cowboy right now….hope to have it done pretty soon. It will be done on a larger canvas, so it should be a little more detailed. In the mean-time, I am enjoying other artists’ art.
Art copies…

Helen Masacz…
One of my favorite artists is Helen Masacz, from London….she has such a wonderful ability to capture her subjects soul; the true self of that person. She has said, “I concern myself with the issues of transition…”……and she pays so much attention to detail….her portraits bring out a reality that not all artists can attain. I would like to talk about Kiyomi Richards…a tattoo artist. She is learning from a traditional Japanese tattooist. Her art is very much Japanese and very beautiful! A traditional tattooist must learn ancient, as well as modern tattooing. She says that the traditional tattooing takes longer to learn due to the instruments as well as the depth she must take her needles. So she is combining hard work with her beautiful art….and I’m very proud to have her for a daughter-in-law! http://www.alicevrichards.wordpress.com/
